Giggle of the day...

SUNDAY 17th of AUGUST 2008

The early bird shift at work can't be describes as anything but lacking in action. It's dead quiet in the restaurant! Nada phone If I'd been working on the 'floor' I'd probably be polishing cutlery right now - and that would even have been fun! Anyhow, luckily enough this lack of action frees up () some time to surf the net, and today I came across something that couldn't help just brightening up my day...

..."SUSHI SOAPS! ”
Sushi lover meets sushi soap…

Are you a sushi addict or do you know someone that is? Have you been pondering over how more of your day can be spent with sushi? What comes in a bento box and will just make you day?... Sushi Soap! Take it in the bath or shower with you. We like to keep ours on the bathroom counter to make people do a double take!
Includes 8 (inedible!) sushi rolls."

The funniest thing I've seen in a long, long time - and of course, I desperately want a bentobox!

What do you do....

SUNDAY 3rd of AUGUST 2008

...when you're working on a Saturday evening and in need of some action? I'll tell you what. You suprise yourself by finding out that you're allergic to nuts.

A few telephone calls later, a talk with the maitre 'd and I'm off to the E.R. in a taxi. Took just over an hour before I got to see the doctor, and thanks to the antihistamine tablet I got from the nurse who registered me I was gradually starting to feel better.

I'm probably making it sound more dramatic than it really was. Luckily my throat didn't swell up so much that I had problems swallowing, talking or walking, and my chest never felt so constricted that I wasn't able to breathe. But still, it was a bit frightening and very tiring, especially since I've never reacted to anything I've eaten before in addition to there not being any indication that I was allergic to nuts. I've eaten both peanuts and almonds in the past month without problems, just not had any hazelnuts lately.

Now I'm mostly grieving over all the things - some of them among my favorite foods and treats - I can't eat, such as: kransekake (norwegian kake made out of rings of almond 'cookies'), nuts as snackfood, pecan pizza pie (a yummy cake served at my favorite pizza joint in Mandal, Jonas B. Gundersen), and perhaps most importantly, Milkchocolate with Daim (from Freia), as it's got pieces of almond brittle in it...ah.
