Dagens horoskop

FRIDAY 30th of JANUARY 2009

In my New Year's -post I noted that my stars weren't aligned right in 2008 as it had been a lousy year. And, I also proclaimed that 2009 definately couldn't be any worse! So, once in a while I check out my horoscope, and like most people I know, it makes me smile and perhaps even think more positively if it's a good prediction or at least has a bit of truth in it. If it's bad or ill-fitting, it naturally gets ignored. Therefore, let's see what fate has in store for this Aries today:
Spør ingen om gode råd i dag. Det er heller ikke dagen for samarbeid eller diskusjoner. Stol kun på deg selv, og planlegg ting for deg selv. Kjærligheten blomstrer, men du må tydelig si ifra hva du ønsker.
Quick translation: Don't ask anybody for good advice today. It is neither the right day for cooperation and discussion. Trust only yourself, and plan things for yourself. Love is in the air, but you need to express clearly what you want.

Dagen begynner bra, du er i kjempehumør og sjarmerer kollegaene dine med humoren og den herlige energien din. Også kvelden ser ut til å by på en del overraskelser.
Quick translation: The day starts out well, and you are in a great mood and you are charming all your colleauges with your humour and your wonderful energy. The evening also seems to be full of surprises.

So, what do you think? Not half bad hey?

Yeah, and just for fun. Here's a definition of the word 'horoscope':

Bargain hunting

FRIDAY 23rd of JANUARY 2009

Last Saturday I went bargain hunting with a few good friends. The scene of the crime was Sømmelig in Nordahl Bruns gate - something as rare as a sowing machine cafe & coffee shop in one! In addition to being a design studio and shop selling both hand-made & second-hand stuff for you & your home, they also hold various courses in knitting & sowing here. In other words, it's a pretty cool place.

Basically the flee market was down in the basement, offering an assortment of goods; clothes, textiles, shoes, bags, glasses and stoneware and much, much more. I found quite a lot of material with cool & funky patterns, though didn't buy anything. Figured I need to sort through all the stuff I already got before I start collecting new. However, I did end up buying to tiny china plates with a stripy pattern in turqoise and silver. Very cute.

Below you can see a photo of my second purchase, a pair of second-hand ,white leather peeptoes with a bit of a heel. I probably shouldn't, though couldn't help myself - I fell in love with them as soon as I tried them on. Perfect fit. Can't wait until the weather get's a good deal warmer (snow, snow, snow in Oslo at the moment) so that I can start wearing them. Yeah!

And as most perfect Saturdays (even though I had to go to work that afternoon), it ended with cake & coffe in the company of good friends. Bliss :D

It's tiki time!

SATURDAY 17th of JANUARY 2009

I've come to an important conclusion, and that is that I'm pretty sure life would be a lot more fun with drinking cups like these. I like them, I need them and I desperately want them!

Goodbye 2008...

...Hello 2009!

FRIDAY 2nd of JANUARY 2009

Happy new year everybody!
New year, new possibilities - I must say I like the prospects of it!

It seems in order to start with a brief summary of 2008: When thinking back, I remember the past year as being sort of so-so. Sure, there were a few memorable experiences to look back on: the fab new year trip to London, the great weekend-getaway spent in a hut by the sea (Aase Marthe's birthday!), the many cocktailparties at my pad in Grüneløkka & the nights out after one too many cocktails, BBQs in the park and long laughing fits with my old housemates at Bislett, are all memories to be fondly remembered.

However, most of the year seems to have past by with me stuck in limbo – which means, academically, economically and career-wise I’ve been glued to the spot. I’m thinking that last year my stars definately weren't aligned right, though from here it can only go one way and that's up! Thus, we come to the most important part of the first entry of the year:

MY RESOLUTIONS FOR 2009:
  1. ...to be on time!
  2. ...finish up my studies!
  3. ...work out at least once a week!
  4. ...learn a new skill!
  5. ...save money!
  6. ...live life to it's fullest!
  7. ...and take all possibilities to do my best, be the best and be happy!

Now, bring on the fun!
